| Petaling Jaya, 1st February 2012 - A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between The Language Institute (TLI) of UCSI Professional Academy, represented by its General Manager Sheikh Fahmy bin Sheikh Mohamed and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants’ (CIMA) Managing Director Andrew Harding at CIMA Malaysia’s office here today. The Memorandum outlined TLI’s plans in collaborating to carry out Corporate Training Programmes and also luncheon or evening talks at CIMA. According to Sheikh Fahmy, the collaboration with CIMA is a step towards greater projects between the two. He also thanked CIMA for making this MoU signing a reality. The signing was witnessed by representatives from both CIMA and UCSI Group.
Currently The Language Institute is the official training provider for CIMA. Therefore, the institute is responsible for hosting the Corporate Training Programme (CTP) and Continuous Personal Development Programme(CPD) at CIMA. The Corporate Training Programme is done when an organisation requests for a specific soft skills training to be carried out to improve the skills and enhance performances of their staff members at the workplace. Whereby, the Continuous Personal Development Programme is a compulsory yearly basis training session based on soft skills such as leadership, team building, Business-English skills, dealing with change in management and personal development provided by CIMA for an organisations staff and the public from year 2012 onwards.
Prior to the signing of the MoU, the event saw an inspiring welcome speech by Andrew Harding, which began with a welcome to all five education institutions present at CIMA for the ceremony. This includes The Language Institute from UCSI University, Crescendo International College, AOU Asia e University, University Tun Abdul Rahman (UTAR) and University College Shah Putra. He also spoke about CIMA’s latest collaboration with AICPA (the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) for the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) qualification, which is the global designation for management accountants.
In line with this, TLI and CIMA proudly hosted their first session of Evening Talks for the year titled "We need to talk. Are you intimidated hearing this?” on the 15th of February 2012 at the CIMA Malaysia office, KPMG Tower from 7 to 9pm.The 2 hour workshop emphasized on overcoming communication barriers in the corporate world and steps towards becoming an effective communicator. The objectives of the talk were to gain a clear understanding of effective business communication, break down barriers to achieve better communication, and understand and use the three levels of listening as well as develop skills to establish a pattern of clear and effective communication. The talk was delivered by Steve Vieweg, President and CEO of CIMA Canada, who is an excellent communicator and has experience working with a variety of companies throughout Asia, designing and facilitating courses that have met their objectives.
The Language Institute has established partnerships with a number of reputable organisations, by collaborating with prominent companies locally and globally, achieving the vision of both parties involved.
