Kuala Lumpur, 17 August 2011 - UCSI Communications, UCSI Group’s event management company, is organising the Penang World Music Festival 2012 together with the Penang State Tourism Development and Culture Office. Penang Chief Minister YAB Lim Guan Eng launched the festival Wednesday at the Royal Hotel Penang, witnessed by the Penang State EXCO for Tourism Development and Culture YB Danny Law Heng Kiang, UCSI Communications Managing Director Mdm Gracie Geikie, Executive Assistant Manager of Hard Rock Hotel Penang Mr Shane Coates, Ms Ooi Geok Ling, Managing Director of Penang Global Tourism, Dr Chong Beng Keok, Principal of KDU College Penang and Mr Rohaizam Mohd Yusuf, Managing Director of VirtualMalaysia. The ceremony included speeches by the Chief Minister and the Penang State EXCO and revealed the official logo of the festival.

The open-air event will take place from March 30 – April 1 at the Quarry Recreational Park, Botanic Gardens after a three-year hiatus. The event will feature musicians from all over the world, including bands from Australia, China, Korea and Africa, as well as local artists.
In addition to concerts, the festival will also include music workshops and children’s activities, which will take place during the day. The evening music concerts will feature a variety of traditional and modern musical instruments set in lush greenery under the night sky.
