Volunteering Programme – a collaborative project between MindFlu and Malaysian Mental Health Association (MMHA) aims to bring individuals who underwent psychiatric rehabilitation programme back to society and adapt themselves into the working environment through series of volunteering activities. This project serves as a transition phase for them to re-enter the workforce. Through the programme, clients are able to expand their social circles and life skills by doing volunteer work. The role of MindFlu (a student-based organisation founded by UCSI University students) is to look for suitable volunteering programmes and to accompany the clients throughout the activities. Prior to the commencement of the volunteering activities, volunteers from MindFlu are interviewed by MMHA and undergo a training session by the Association toensure the effectiveness of the whole programme, which runs bi-weekly for about 4 months for the first batch of clients. A different type of volunteering programme is conducted for each month. There are five clients already undergoing this volunteering programme. Other volunteering programmes in plan include tree planting and recycling. The continuity of the programme depends on the positive outcome delivered by the first batch of clients.
