Gracie Geikie

Gracie is Managing Director of UCSI Communications Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the UCSI Group of Companies.  She brings with her over 30 years of work and business experience in the field of hospitality, tourism and events management. She is also a certified trainer and corporate consultant.    Prior to this appointment she served with the State Government of Sarawak as Chief Executive Officer for the Sarawak Tourism Board for 4 years.

Her business experience has included several startup businesses in restaurant, airline hospitality lounge as well as inbound tour and dive operations. As an event management specialist, Gracie has succeeded in bidding for several international MICE events to be held in Sarawak the latest being the International Geotourism Conference 2010 (Mulu) and World Interhash 2010 (Kuching). She has also been instrumental in upgrading the state government owned event, the Rainforest World Music Festival during her tenure as CEO as well as having created and mooted new events such as the Miri International Jazz Festival to promote the Northern Region destination of Sarawak and The Rainforest World Craft Bazaar.

In overseeing the three core areas of business operations in UCSI Comms namely event management, marketing communications and entertainment production, Gracie and her team intends to build the PCO business industry in Sarawak to upgrade the current standards and profile. UCSI Comms’ current management team comprise of a team of dedicate personnel who are specialists in event management, corporate and marketing communications.

Gracie is also Associate Dean for the Faculty of Hospitality and Management in UCSI University Sarawak Campus. She is very much involved in human capital development for the hospitality and tourism industry and to ensure quality and relevant curricula for the university’s programs to meet current industry trends and standards. As an industry specialist in Sarawak’s tourism, she aims to bridge industry partners by providing consultancy and leadership seminars and programs to further enhance the current industry workforce.

A regular speaker in the tourism conferences circuit, Gracie believes deeply in enriching the experience for students and hospitality workers alike and enjoys sharing with industry colleagues to constantly seek improvement. Gracie is an avid advocate of Blue Ocean Strategy concepts.

Gracie holds a Masters in Business Administration and an MBA in Tourism & Hospitality Management.
